Summer Favorite
Hemingway, super lush, enjoyed these a lot. He wanted them in frozen shot version. I prefer a more gentle version, it comes in a glass and is larger than a shot.
1 measure Dry Vermouth
3 measure Gin – I prefer Baltimore Long Shot
1 or 2 dashes Orange Bitters
Stir well. Strain into a cocktail glass. Add Olive.
For a Gibson, forget the olive. Use a small cocktail onion.
Love of Split Pea Soup
One of the go to comfort foods in my kitchen is split pea soup, yellow or green. It is a Finn thing.
Maryland Crab Cakes
Maryland is famous for the Chesapeake Bay blue crabs which are the best in the world. Sweet and delicious, these crabs make the best crab cakes. My ancestors have been enjoying these for thousands of years!

Dear Abby Meat Loaf
Equipment
- 1 9X5 loaf pan
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup finely diced onon
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 tsp powdered garlic
- 2 ea eggs
- 4 ea bacon strips
- salt `
- pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl combine all ingredients except bacon
- Shape into a loaf
- Place in 9X5 pan
- arrange bacon stripes on top
- Bake 60 minutes at 350 degrees
